New milestone for the autonomous driving laboratory in Italy<\/strong><\/p>\n

L\u2019Aquila, November 29th<\/sup>, 2022<\/p>\n

 <\/strong><\/p>\n

P-CAR – the ESA backed project funded by ASI to validate positioning devices for use within connected and autonomous vehicles is stepping into the deployment phase after having passed the Test Readiness Review (TRR) with acceptance of the Test Plan, Test Procedures and Test Specifications. The Laboratory – unique in Europe – and a pillar of the EMERGE strategic initiative co-ordinated by Radiolabs, will be integrated into the Center of Excellence of EMERGE created by the University of L\u2019Aquila, thus enhancing the research ecosystem in the Region Abruzzo to validating and promoting the use of Galileo and other Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) \u2013 along with 5G communications \u2013 for connected and autonomous driving.<\/p>\n

The architecture of this laboratory has been conceived as the master of a geo-distributed facility to be connected with other test bed located in any part of the world thanks to its cloud-based solution. This collaborative approach is ideal to develop quicker, more reliable, and safer positioning units by replicating the complexity of different operational environments and by on-field testing campaigns to validate the performance of the positioning units for supporting the certification phase.<\/p>\n

The P-CAR laboratory will evolve in the next phase 2 to support the validation of safety-relevant automation functions since safety and security issues for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles depends mainly by sensor-based technologies, reliable connectivity including satcom and resiliency to cyber-attacks. Yet Artificial Intelligence technologies will have to be addressed and validated because they are playing an increasing role for achieving higher levels of automation.

P-CAR – il progetto\nsostenuto dall’ESA finanziato dall’ASI per convalidare i dispositivi di\nposizionamento per l’uso all’interno di veicoli connessi e autonomi sta\nentrando nella fase di implementazione dopo aver superato la Test Readiness\nReview (TRR) con l’accettazione del piano di test e le relative procedure e\nspecifiche. Il Laboratorio – unico in Europa – e pilastro dell’iniziativa\nstrategica EMERGE coordinata da Radiolabs, sar\u00e0 integrato nel Centro di\nEccellenza di EMERGE creato dall’Universit\u00e0 dell’Aquila, valorizzando cos\u00ec\nl’ecosistema della ricerca nella Regione Abruzzo per validare e promuovere\nl’uso di Galileo e di altri Sistemi Globali di Navigazione Satellitare (GNSS) \u2013\ninsieme alle comunicazioni 5G \u2013 per la guida connessa e autonoma.<\/o:p><\/p>

L’architettura di questo\nlaboratorio \u00e8 stata concepita per diventare il centro nevralgico di una\nstruttura geo-distribuita per collegare altri centri di test situati in\nqualsiasi parte del mondo grazie alla sua soluzione basata su cloud. Questo\napproccio collaborativo \u00e8 ideale per sviluppare rapidamente unit\u00e0 di\nposizionamento, affidabili e sicure replicando la complessit\u00e0 dei diversi\nambienti operativi e mediante campagne di test sul campo per convalidare le\nprestazioni delle unit\u00e0 di posizionamento a supporto della fase di\ncertificazione.<\/o:p><\/p>

Il laboratorio P-CAR\nevolver\u00e0 nella prossima Fase 2 per supportare la convalida delle funzioni di\nautomazione rilevanti per la sicurezza, poich\u00e9 i problemi di sicurezza per i\nveicoli connessi e autonomi dipendono principalmente da tecnologie basate sui\nsensori, connettivit\u00e0 affidabile inclusa quella su reti satellitari e\nresilienza agli attacchi informatici. In aggiunta, le tecnologie di\nIntelligenza Artificiale dovranno essere affrontate e convalidate perch\u00e9 stanno\ngiocando un ruolo crescente per raggiungere i livelli pi\u00f9 elevati di\nautomazione.<\/o:p><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
